The Naunton Hall Estate has been home to the Bunbury family for almost one hundred years.

With a heritage of land ownership in Suffolk since the 18th Century and in Cheshire from the 12th Century for 600 years, the family remains as invested in rural life today as it ever was.

The core of the Naunton Hall Estate was purchased by the family in the 1930s. Farms at Pettistree and Tunstall were acquired in the 1970s with further additions in the 1980s. The family’s passion and commitment to agriculture and the local community has been unwavering.  With three generations currently living and working on the Estate this passion continues today.

Over the years the Estate has undergone diversification in sustainable farming practices, forestry, deer husbandry, residential property and archaeology.

Naunton Hall with its original footprint from the 1500s is a Grade II listed building which was altered and extended in the 1930s and sits above the Deben valley.  Its 7 acres of private grounds include a walled kitchen garden and enjoys an uninterrupted vista over the River Deben.  With its position on level ground with commanding views it is not surprising that archaeologists made the discovery in 2023 of the foundations of a royal palace from King Raedwald’s anglo saxon reign dating from the early 7th Century.  See more about our archaeology here.
